Job description

Intel is seeking a Compute Infrastructure Engineer! The Infrastructure Engineer ensures the efficient planning, provisioning, installation/configuration, maintenance, and operations of the hardware and software infrastructure used in Intel Private Cloud. This role would require the candidate to build, validate, release and support hosting solutions for multi-tiered enterprise, office, and general-purpose applications.

This Compute Engineer will develop automated solutions for monitoring, performance and capacity planning, high availability, and disaster response for on-prem multi-server clustered supporting mission and business critical applications. While identifying opportunities and implement solutions for increased automation, reliability, optimization, sustainability, and utilization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage and improve the whole lifecycle of services - Design, build, deploy, monitor, performance tuning and supporting compute infrastructure for multi-tier applications, for the Intel Private Cloud.
  • Develop and implement operational performance and reliability indicators for compute infrastructure.
  • Ensure the infrastructure, services, and applications developed meets all standards including security, monitoring, performance, capacity, and Service Level Agreements.
  • Problem Management and root cause analysis and drive system improvement.
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation
  • Evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability, sustainability, and perk performance.
  • Identifies opportunities and implements solutions for increased automation, reliability, and velocity within the pipeline through implementation of robust infrastructure, Key Performance Indicators, monitoring and applying industry best practices.

Key Skills Required:

  • Advanced hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V; from design, build-out, scaling, load balancing, capacity management, utilization, rightsizing, troubleshooting, issue resolution and performance tuning.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in deployment and administration of Windows and Linux server Operating Systems
  • System administration scripting, performance tuning, scalability, and troubleshooting
  • Storage technologies (SAN, NAS, Object)
  • Working knowledge of network protocol layers, configuration/tuning.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Passion in delivering high quality end-user experience.
  • Customer orientation and service mindset is essential.
  • Experience in cross-functional and highly matrixed environments
  • Strong analytical, communication, technical problem solving and project management skills.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other Engineering related degree and 4+ years of experience -OR- a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other Engineering related degree and 3+ years of experience -OR- a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other Engineering related degree and 1+ year of experience in:

  • Systems Administration on IT infrastructure
  • Design, build and support experience
  • Microsoft Hyper-V; from design, build-out, scaling, load balancing, capacity management, utilization, rightsizing, troubleshooting, issue resolution and performance tuning.
  • Hypervisor technologies (VMWare, Harvester)
  • Windows Server and Linux system administration, engineering, build, maintain and upgrade.
  • Technical knowledge in computing infrastructure components, security, data centers, network technologies and IP stack (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, etc.).
  • Storage (NAS, SAN)
  • Backup and Recovery
