We put people first, celebrate diversity, drive innovation, and do good in the communities where we live and work!As part of the Machine Learning organization, we, the MLDE team, own and develop a platform for enabling data scientists and ML Engineers to train ML solutions. The ML platform comprises data acquisition, data governance, data lifecycle management, ML development environment, data streaming and an inference platform using Open Source technologies and homegrown services. We deliver on mission critical company goals, Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

About the Role

In this role, one will get to shape Machine Learning at Workday with key focus on platform initiatives. You can bring your creativity to tackle challenges delivering continuous end-user value. Our environment is high trust, collaborative and Agile, which allows us to deploy new features to production every single day. A self-motivated engineer who loves to research, learn and apply current technology to build new product features that anticipate our customers' needs will be very successful in this team. You will partner with customers of the platform to ensure successful adoption of the features you deliver. Build and design software for machine learning platform. Engineering work will include XpressO development and building AWS infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree, preferably in CS or equivalent experience
• 5 or more years of validated experience in developing software, preferably on Data/ML Platform.
• Polyglot programmer with validated experience in Java, Golang and/or Scala
• 3 years or more of validated experience working with data and/or ML systems with ability to think across layers of the stack
• 3 years or more designing, implementing or improving ML features in a variety of backend systems including REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing systems, and distributed task/job processing systems
• 5 or more years of experience in building, deploying and monitoring services on public cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure)
• 5 or more years of working experience with Kubernetes, Docker and Terraform.

Other Qualifications

• Experience crafting and developing high-performance SaaS systems
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with agile development practices like Scrum or Kanban
• Ability to take ownership and efficiently communicate product architectures, design proposals and implementation plan
• Take pride in delivering quality code, with keen focus on scalability, availability, and data security.
• Willing to learn and chip in on Data Extraction Service, built on Workday-Owned Xpresso Framework.
