Role overview:

As a Communications Manager at Kiva, you'll play a pivotal role in communicating Kiva's mission, maximizing social engagement, and advancing the organization's brand. You'll work closely with the Director of Communications to strategize and execute plans that amplify Kiva's impact and reach across various digital platforms. The right candidate will have a deep understanding of the social channels and the relevant content for each and will be responsible for overseeing an approach to best reach Kiva’s many audiences through them.  This person will have experience simplifying complex concepts into posts that resonate with the target audience in the appropriate channel.

At this time, we can only consider applicants with authorization to work in the United States on a permanent, full-time basis; unfortunately, we cannot provide visa sponsorship.

Key responsibilities include:

Social Media Management:

  • Outline and execute an approach for each of Kiva’s social media channels based on audience segmentation, data, and priorities
  • Develop a deep understanding of Kiva’s audiences, where and how they engage, and what compels them to act
  • Work cross-functionally at Kiva to understand audience owners’ goals and priorities in order to articulate a comprehensive social media approach that responds to these needs
  • Lead content creation and scheduling for social media, including ideation, designing images, writing copy, and scheduling content
  • Maintain an understanding of each channel, the changes, and how Kiva can continuously improve
  • Utilize AI tools and resources to achieve the goals set for the social strategy and evergreen content web pages
  • Design social posts from templates in Canva
  • Complete weekly reporting on social metrics accompanied with recommendations for changes based on data
  • Complete weekly social media scanning of Kiva-related content and share summary and learnings with the larger team
  • Maintain and update social content calendar
  • Trial new types of content, track their success, and document learnings
  • Collaborate with the larger  team to brief and schedule social content for major campaigns
  • Monitor and engage with positive content on our social media channels
  • Conduct social media competitor and trend analysis
  • Manage requests from Kiva team members for new social media posts
  • Execute organizational partnerships’ social media needs and provide strategic input on co-branded campaigns
  • Represent Kiva’s social media strategy on organizational partner calls as needed

Public Relations:

  • Assist with the identification of media contacts and maintain outlet lists
  • Schedule and conduct media pitching using templated emails
  • Media article tracking and regular sentiment analysis

Other:

  • Build web pages and publish content in Contentful
  • Support the team with communication requests
  • Manage multiple stakeholders’ requests and drive deliverables on an accelerated timeline

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, self-directed, and organized professional who possesses the following skills and attributes:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a full-time role and at least 3 years of experience in a role related to communications, social media, or website development
  • Experience in a B2B or B2C social media marketing role
  • Experience with AI tools to create or edit posts
  • Work experience in a fast-paced, technology and growth-oriented organization
  • Bachelor's degree or graduate degree
  • Client service-oriented mindset, including strong interpersonal skills and excellent phone skills
  • Results-driven, detail-oriented, and organized
  • Track record of standing-up efficient systems, processes, and research protocols
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, and excellent listening skills
  • Sound judgment; ability to represent Kiva externally with poise and grace
  • Experience with social media management software
  • Curious, creative, and a strategic thinker

Preferred:

  • Experience with Contentful is a plus
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus
  • Experience with Sprout is a plus
  • Experience with Canva and with implementing brand guidelines into designs
  • Experience working with international and cross-cultural teams
  • Familiarity with one or more major sectors of philanthropic giving (corporate, foundation, individual/high net worth)

  • Salary range: $63K - $84K; a final offer will be dependent upon a candidate’s location, skills, and experience.
