The Math Learning Center (MLC) is a non-profit education organization with a track record of developing high-quality mathematics materials, including Bridges in Mathematics. We create materials that engage students, promote classroom community and discourse, and help more than 80,000 elementary teachers across the country deliver effective mathematics instruction.

Are you at your best when you are organizing and coordinating projects and people? If so, this position might be right for you. In this position, you will conduct a variety of technical tasks related to MLC’s research, program evaluation, and quality improvement projects.

This position is based in Oregon. In this hybrid or onsite role, office days are in our Portland, Oregon office.

What you will do:

  • Conduct common technical tasks for research, program evaluation, and quality improvement projects.
  • Perform literature reviews, instrument design, data cleaning and analysis, and writing or reviewing reports or presentations.
  • Collect data through field work in education settings (including K-5 classrooms or professional learning workshops), surveys, and focus groups or interviews with educators.
  • Manage data collection for projects by monitoring received and outstanding data and communicating with educators.
  • Coordinate data management for research and program evaluation projects.
  • Contribute to strong communication patterns across the research team by developing project timelines, providing regular progress updates, tracking task completion for research projects, and contributing to meeting agendas.

How you are qualified:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience contributing to research projects, experience in an education organization is preferred.
  • Intermediate experience with statistical software and/or quantitative and qualitative software packages; SPSS and NVivo preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to concisely articulate ideas, thoughts, perspectives, as well as project specifics (goals, methods, findings) to a variety of internal audiences.
  • Track record of reliably delivering results by demonstrating key behavioral skills, including follow-through, initiative, timeliness, and flexibility.
